Beautiful music
I attended a “Music Now” concert at SBCC, where really good music was made by mostly college youngsters. Using the Canon 7D, I recorded my son (not a student) playing guitar. I should have shot wider-angle, but I wanted to focus on the string playing – and missed the young lady creating the superlative notes – I was thoroughly enchanted. It is amazing to realize that the auditorium was packed, with not a sound from the very attentive audience. Click on the video below to hear a musical treat. (By the way, the camera was set to 6400 ISO, and maxed out on lighting – i.e. pushed to the limit, with no flash.)

It was also all very high-tech with modern, electronic equipment. I was amused to hear from the director, Dominic Camardella, the running score of students versus murphy outdoing computer glitches (Murphy’s Law) by a large margin.

Thanks, Lara.
Yes, it was shot in HD mode using the 7D, and converted to 640×480 for uploading to the web. I sat in my chair with the 7D attached to a monopod adjusted to my sitting height, and held it steadyish for about 7 minutes. I was thrilled with the result.

Nice job, both you and the musicians!! Don’t know how you held it with just a monopod, but sitting probably helped reduce any sway. I’m sure your son was glad to have this recorded for posterity.

Thanks, Ginny. I don’t think he has even had time to view it, yet.
